The latest ghost executables support UEFI and PE 4.0 is based off of the windows 8 kernel so drivers are better also compared to the pe 2.0 (Vista) that the GSS used by default. If using uefi systems you can build the windows PE 4.0 disk with the latest network drivers and the latest Ghost executables you may find they run faster both for uefi and non uefi systems.
With regards to the UEF as Utraman pointed out it can be a hassle. If you test to a local usb drive you will eliminate the network completely and can then do a dell and a hp test to the same external drive and know that it is the networking part of the equation for sure or not. (keep in mind the ghost boot wizard is building pe 2.0 (vista) and needs the 32bit vista drivers.

The following is how to add drivers to the ghost boot wizard where you can then build a new boot disk with the new vista drivers. (common when working with windows PE, Microsoft includes a lot of built in drivers that are good enough but in this case may not be new enough for your hardware if you are seeking best performance not just good enough. How are you booting the HP systems? It sounds like the network drivers being used for these HP systems are not as good of a match or not as updated as the ones being used on the Dell systems. (GSS) if not respond back with what version you are using. Under the hood they are dramatically different.īelow is working with the understanding that you are using the Symantec Ghost solution suite. Norton ghost or Symantec Ghost? Also what version? I reached out one of our Ghost specialists, Shawn Schneider, and replied with this:
